Frank Vassallo is founder, and C.E.O. of Technology and Communications Systems, Inc. (TECOMSYS). TECOMSYS was formed in 2001 to provide technology solutions to Special Operations Command (SOCOM) and the Intelligence Community (IC) in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Frank has grown the company by developing and transitioning advance government research into fielded solutions across air, land and maritime platforms across both Department of Defense and commercial sectors. In 2017 TECOMSYS became a SBA 8a company and is a Service Disabled, Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB).
Frank is an I.E.E.E Senior Member who earned a B.S. in Avionics Engineering Technology from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (1996), and a Master’s in Business Administration from New York Institute of Technology (1999). He has taught at the university level as an Adjunct Professor at the New York Institute of Technology Manhattan, NY campus, Broward College, FL and most recently at The United States Military Academy, West Point, NY developing an Antenna Theory Course for the summer independent study program. Frank is a former US Marine Reservist who deployed twice to Iraq as a contractor. In 2008 he built and deployed a High-Power Microwave (HPM) directed energy weapon. This system was deployed in support of the counter-IED fight in Ramadi, Iraq with Naval Surface WarfareDahlgren. The following year, he returned to Iraq with Task Force ODIN to provide persistent Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) to the counter-IED mission supporting Special Operations missions. Frank is a recognized antenna expert and provides Radio Frequency and Antenna courses to SOCOM and holds multiple Patents Pending with three US patents in the fields of medical electronics, wireless communications and radio frequencies. Frank is a published author on magneto-dielectric antennas and is working in the research field of antenna miniaturization. In 2018, Frank was appointed as a Small Business Technology I-3 Ambassador to represent the US Commerce Department’s Minority Business Development Agency’s Inclusive Innovation Initiative. Frank is co-founder of Sparkoff, LLC, a technology spin-off that transitioned military MEMS technology to the commercial medical device industry.
Frank is also an FCC-licensed amateur radio operator and a licensed skydiver.
